A Seamless Transformation Rooted in Vision and Craft

When we first stepped into this Bridges condo, it was filled with personality but also with dated details, saturated finishes, and disjointed spaces. The goal of this renovation was to reimagine the entire home with a cleaner, brighter, and more modern mountain aesthetic while keeping warmth and function at the forefront.

Interview with Contractor Brian Burns: Bringing Rustic Refinement to Life at Bridges Condo

Q: What does BDG bring to a remodel project that changes the game?
Brian: “
The final product is always greater and more diverse when working with BDG. Their cohesive design package gives me clarity on scope before we start ; and when quick decisions need to be made mid-project, their team is immediately available. That level of collaboration isn’t just rare , it’s essential.”

Q: How does this impact the homeowner experience?
Brian:
“Clients are far more satisfied with the final product when it’s a partnership between BDG and a skilled local contractor. The outcome is thoughtful, unified, and tailored instead of a hodgepodge of decisions made on the fly.”

A collaboration between Brown Design Group and contractor Brian Burns delivers a stunning, cohesive renovation.

Q: The reclaimed wood throughout the home is stunning. How did that come together?

Brian: That was a big part of the design concept. BDG and I sourced this incredible reclaimed wood with tons of texture and history, and we used it extensively, wrapping the staircase, adding fireplace accent wall, and building in millwork details like the under-stair bar. From a contractor's standpoint, working with reclaimed material is more labor-intensive, but the payoff is huge. Every board has character, and the final effect is incredibly warm and grounded.

Q: Were there any structural or layout challenges that stood out?

Brian: Yes, we had to rethink circulation and make the main level feel more open and cohesive. We removed walls in the kitchen and reworked the staircase to allow better visual and physical flow between the kitchen, dining, and living areas. That staircase was a beast to engineer, especially integrating the glass guardrails with reclaimed posts, but it became a centerpiece of the home.

“The final product is always greater and more diverse when working with Brown Design Group. They bring a fully-formed design plan from the start, which helps me wrap my head around scope and expectations. BDG brings the vision, and we bring the tools. Together, that combination makes every project more successful.”

Q: Final thoughts on working with Brown Design Group?
