The Ranches at Snowcreek Remodel

This home at the Ranches at Snowcreek started as a more traditional interior. While it had great structure, strong millwork, and incredible views, the overall feel didn’t reflect the setting or how the homeowners wanted to live in the space.

The goal was to shift the home into a true mountain cabin design. Warmer, more textural, and more connected to its surroundings, while taking full advantage of those views from the main living spaces.

We had a fantastic experience working with Brown Design Group on our home in Mammoth Lakes. From start to finish, the team was professional, thoughtful, and easy to work with.

The kitchen was updated without a full rebuild.

The original kitchen, while generous in size and filled with natural light and views, felt rooted in a more traditional palette, heavy wood cabinetry, tile flooring, and segmented surfaces. It had great bones and a strong connection to the outdoors, but didn’t reflect how the home is lived in today.

In the remodel, we reimagined the space as a lighter, more cohesive gathering area, modern yet grounded in its mountain setting. Soft, desaturated cabinetry paired with warm wood flooring opens the room, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere while allowing natural light to move more freely.

Updated countertops and a simplified backsplash provide a quiet backdrop, letting texture and materiality take the lead. Thoughtfully selected hardware and fixtures add a tailored touch without overwhelming the space.

The result is a cohesive kitchen designed for gathering and everyday living, warm, timeless, and aligned with a modern mountain lifestyle.

A New Focal Point in the Dining Room

One of the most defining additions to the home is the custom modern antler chandelier in the dining area.

It bridges two ideas at once. There’s a clear nod to traditional mountain design, but the form is more refined and contemporary. It anchors the space and gives the dining room a distinct identity within the open layout.

Reworking the Living Room Fireplace

We installed a larger firebox to improve both function and presence. The lower portion of the surround was updated with textured basalt stone, adding depth and a more grounded feel to the room.

A new mantle ties everything together, reinforcing the mountain aesthetic while giving the fireplace a cleaner, more updated profile.

After & Before: A Visual Journey

The Result

What makes this project work is restraint. We didn’t strip away what made the home special. Instead, we adjusted the key elements that influence how the space feels day to day.

The end result is a home that still reads as a mountain cabin, but now feels intentional, updated, and ready for every season.

We’re ecstatic with how everything turned out and would absolutely recommend Brown Design Group.
